SAOTA Internship 2022 Application Details
SAOTA, a leading firm of architects, is driven by the dynamic combination of Stefan Antoni, Philip Olmesdahl, Greg Truen, Phillippe Fouché, Mark Bullivant, Roxanne Kaye and Logen Gordon, who share a potent vision easily distinguished in their practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Architectural Technology or equivalent degree
- Has working knowledge of the software that SAOTA uses
- Able to understand and formulate design decisions and present for discussion
- Able to use a variety of media and software in the development and documentation of a design project
- Displays high level thinking in architecture and design
- Able to accurately understand and interpret instructions
- Sound understanding of the production process, including applications of different file formats
- The ability to learn and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills
- Able to set and achieve deadlines and give regular updates on progress
- Methodical, accurate and consistent attention to detail
- Able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information
- Able to remain calm and work in pressurised environments
- Self-motivated and able to take responsibility
- Demonstrate initiative and be pro-active towards daily tasks
- Able to travel
- Able to set and achieve deadlines and give regular updates on progress
- Methodical, accurate and consistent attention to detail

- Due to the nature of the position there will be a requirement to work additional hours as necessary, this may include weekends occasionally
- All employees are required to have an uncapped 20Mbps (up/down) minimum Internet Connectivity line.

Option 3: Email your portfolio in response to the email that you will receive on application (Please do not email it through, should you have uploaded by option 1 or 2)

RESPONSIBILITIES DESIGN APTITUDE
• Able to showcase knowledge of modeling software, research skills, creativity, customer focus, hand drafting abilities, and teamwork
• Assist project team in generating clear technical drawings of projects
• Understand design intent and goals for successful implementation
• Assist with research, data compiling, and documentation at all phases of design, including feasibility, concept design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents
• Provide graphic support for project teams in preparing for presentations, by generating diagrams, renderings, and other design drawings
TECHNICAL APTITUDE
• Technical aspects of project (The Science):
o Provide meaningful support for all levels of project technical challenges:
INC: Cultural & Regulatory environment
DC: Regulatory environment and Building Tech.
DD: Building Tech. & Project delivery methods
ATD: Building Tech. & Project delivery methods
CA&I: Relevant understanding required
o Assist in producing all documentation relating to the design including:
Drawings
3D Models
Images & all other documentation relating to the design and according to the project brief
• Internal Technical Systems Aptitude:
o Aptitude for applicable technologies for all aspects of project execution
o Implement for successful execution of projects deliverables, drawing on deep knowledge of office systems and technology
• With assistance, liaison with External Consultants, Contractor/Site, Architects of Record as well as with the Client
SAOTA SYSTEMS
• Knowledge of, and compliance with, all SAOTA systems, standards and procedures
• Able to work within a structured document management system and be accountable for upholding that system
• Support the production and project delivery
• Assist with documenting internal and external meetings
